There’s a Squatch in These Woods…

There’s a Squatch in These Woods…

It’s fall! Its also Halloween! In honour of the best day of the year, I knit up this super cute bigfoot knit hat. My husband loved watching Finding Bigfoot, so I thought it was a great gift to make for him. It is a variation of Wooly Rhino Craft’s hat.

Bigfoot Chart Found here: Wooly Rhino Crafts

What you will need:

  • two colours of yarn (you choice, worsted weight)
  • size 3.25mm double pointed or 16″  circular needles (for the ribbing)
  • size 4.5mm double pointed or 16″ circular needles (for the hat)

For my hat, I cast on 96 stitches, working 1×1 ribbing in the round for about 1 inch. I then began the pattern.

Enjoy, and happy squatchin!

The Infamous Star Wars Scarf

The Infamous Star Wars Scarf

May the force be with you!

Last year I started this scarf as part of a Reddit KAL, but I shelved it for a few months. Partly due to my own frustration with the pattern (I was struggling with the text) and partly because the yarn I decided to use made watching paint dry seem more fun than knitting. As you can see, the original pattern had text but I kept making mistakes with it and gave up. I eventually picked it back up, frogged the text portion, and carried on. The first one (seen in purple) took almost a year, but the second one I knit up in a little over 2 months.

This was my first go at double knitting. I was nervous but once I got going it it was like second nature. The upside is theat there is no tension problems like in intarsia or fair isle!

Pattern can be found here: Not a Nice Dragon

You will need:

  • 2 colours of yarn (your choice of colours and weight)
  • straight or circular needles (your choice of size)
*the size of your scarf will depend on the size of needles and yarn weight. I used size 2.75mm and fingering yarn for the purple scarf, but 5mm and worsted yarn for the black scarf. You can really tell the difference it makes!
